More About Jenn

A Steady Place to Begin

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Some are carrying stress that has become too heavy. Some are trying to understand patterns in their relationships, parenting, emotions, or daily routines. Others are working through an experience that still feels present, even when time has passed. Counselling offers a steady space to talk honestly, feel supported, and begin making sense of what is happening.

Jenn’s approach is grounded, practical, and compassionate. Sessions are shaped around the person in front of her, with attention to age, stage of life, family context, emotional safety, and the pace that feels right for the work.

For When Life Feels Heavy

Individual Counselling

Individual counselling can help adults explore concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, grief, relationship patterns, burnout, and life transitions. Counselling plans are made collaboratively to identify goals and create a path to achieving positive outcomes.

Counselling may involve building coping tools, processing past experiences, strengthening boundaries, or finding steadier ways to move through daily life. There are various approaches to support you in reaching your goal; such as EMDR, cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy and somatic therapy.

For the Patterns Between You

Couples Counselling

Relationships can become strained when communication breaks down, trust feels unsettled, conflict repeats, or partners begin to feel distant from one another. Couples counselling offers a supportive space to slow the conversation down and better understand what each person is experiencing.

Utilizing the Gottman Method, Jenn works with couples who want to improve communication, rebuild connection, navigate conflict, or explore patterns that keep showing up in the relationship. The goal is to help both people feel heard while working toward healthier ways of relating.

Support for Growing Minds

Child & Youth Counselling

Children and youth do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling. Anxiety, sadness, anger, school stress, family changes, social struggles, and emotional overwhelm may show up through behaviour, withdrawal, conflict, or difficulty coping. Counselling plans are developed collaboratley with children and parents. Treatment includes play therapy, art based therapy, and narrative therapy.

Counselling gives children and teens a safe place to express themselves, build emotional tools, and feel less alone in what they are going through. When helpful, parents or caregivers may be included so support can continue beyond the counselling room.

Tools for Focus, Routines, and Regulation

ADHD Coaching

ADHD can affect focus, planning, organization, emotional regulation, routines, school, work, relationships, and confidence. ADHD coaching provides practical support for children, youth, and adults who want to better understand how ADHD shows up in daily life.

This work may include strategies for structure, task initiation, time management, emotional regulation, communication, and reducing the shame or frustration that can come from feeling misunderstood. Support is built around real life, not unrealistic expectations.

ADHD parent coaching empowers families with evidence-informed strategies that strengthen communication, reduce daily conflicts, and create more positive routines at home. Parents learn how ADHD affects executive functioning, emotional regulation, motivation, and behavior, allowing them to replace frustration with understanding and effective support.

Care Through Pregnancy, Birth, and Beyond

Perinatal Mental Health

Pregnancy, birth, postpartum life, and parenting transitions can bring joy, pressure, grief, anxiety, identity changes, and emotional overwhelm. For some people, this season also includes depression, birth trauma, intrusive thoughts, relationship strain, or the feeling that things are not as they expected.

Perinatal mental health counselling offers space to speak openly about the emotional weight of this stage without judgment. Support may focus on postpartum anxiety or depression, pregnancy and birth experiences, parenting adjustment, trauma processing, and finding steadier footing during a major life transition.

Research by Drs. John and Julie Gottman found that approximately two-thirds of couples report a decline in relationship satisfaction during the first three years of parenthood. Jenn’s training in Gottman’s Brining Baby Home approach provides couples with practical strategies to reduce conflict, increase appreciation, foster secure parent-child attachment through a strong parental partnership, create a supportive family environment that benefits both parents and children.

Processing What Still Feels Present

EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy is a structured approach that may help people process trauma, distressing memories, and experiences that continue to affect daily life. It can be used when something from the past still feels emotionally present, difficult to talk about, or disruptive in the body, mind, or relationships.

Jenn may incorporate EMDR as part of a broader counselling process when it is appropriate for the client and the work being done. Care is taken to move at a pace that feels safe, supported, and respectful.

WHEN YOU’RE READY TO REACH OUT

You do not need to know exactly what type of counselling you need before reaching out. It is enough to know that something feels difficult, stuck, painful, or ready for attention. Jenn can help you begin with a conversation about what has been happening and what kind of support may be the best fit.
